Vans and Cars

Not too much going on here. Lots of rain, lots of sports being cancelled.

Friday I went to Ryan's housewarming party. He bought a pretty sweet condo. We visited and played some drinking games. Saturday I got to babysit Moose, Barbara and Brant's cat. I miss having a cat. I played with him and fed him. I went to Darrell's friend's housewarming party. I'm still pretty shy around em but getting better. I enjoy their animals, they have 3 dogs at the moment and a cat. Enough to keep me entertained.

Sunday Darrell and I went hiking at Beaver Creek. Took a nice walk, saw a baby bunny. Came across an old tall man in a suit. He asked me "Did you come in the car?" And I was all confused and answered that we did drive, then he replied "I came in the van" and continued on his hike. Farther down the trail we passed a group of people from a care home, and it all made sense. He was just walking faster than them. But I'm glad he enjoyed his van ride.

I saw 28 Weeks Later yesterday. It was awesomely scarey. There was some good cinematography that stayed with me. Even after the movie, when I was sitting in the Tim Horton's, I was expecting a rampage of zombies to come through it like a wave and start biting and dismembering people. Never happened though. Darrell bit my arm this morning all zombie like, that kinda freaked me out. I like zombie movies.

I haven't done one of these for a while

Shamelessly stolen from Erika:

1) What side of the heart do you draw first?:
I start at the mid curve of the left side and then draw it clockwise.

2) Can you dive without plugging your nose?:
For sure! And I can keep water out of it too.

3) What colour is your toothbrush?:
Purple of course.

4) What is your blood type?:
I really have no idea. Next time I get work done I should ask

5) Who would you want to be tied to you for 24 hours?:
no one, 24 hours straight? No thank you.

6) Which cell phone do you have?:
a Motorola C351? I think. It's orange, like my car and the coat I bought to match the car.

7) How do you feel about carrots?:
I usually find them in my lunch and I put them there so I must like em.

8) How many chairs at the dining room table do you have?:
I have 4 and I try to alternate which chairs I sit in so I don't just wear one out.

9) Which is the best Spice Girl?:
I dunno, I don't care.

10) Do you know what time it is?:
2:05, I needed a break at work

11) Do you know all the words to the Fresh Prince theme song?:
Sadly I do. The extended and the condensed for tv version, sigh.

12) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator?:
This has happened before, I tried my cell phone, called for help on the crappy elevator phone, pushed the buzzer for a while, hopped up and down and then sat on the floor.

13) What's your favourite kind of gum?:
I don't really like gum, it kinda hurts my jaw.

14) All's fair in love and war true or false?:
false

15) You have a crush on someone?:
I kinda like Darrell

16) Do you know how to use some words correctly, but not know the meaning?:
pffft, I'm sure I do, I make up words all the time

17) Do you like to sleep?:
I love sleep, I could sleep all day

18) Do you know which US states don't use Daylight Savings?:
Supposedly Arizona doesn't

19) Do you know the song 'Total Eclipse of the Heart'?:
Yes also from Dance Mix and Niki French. I loved it back in the day.....actually, I still kinda like that song, it's playing through my mind right now. I'm going to put it on the iPod

20) Do you want a bright yellow '07 Mustang?:
Sure, I'd love one. But I'd like a 2007 yellow charger more I think.

21) What's something you've always wanted?:
A llama. I don't know why.

23) What does "Semper Fidelis" stand for?:
No idea.

24) Would you rather swim in the ocean or a lake?:
Either or, I like to swim

25) Do you wear a lot of black?:
not really, I like colour, and if I do wear black, I accent it with bright accesories

26) Describe your hair?:
Long, light brown with blond streaks and sideswept bangs.

27) Do you have Entomophobia?:
not at all. I named the spider that lives on my balcony Charlie and I put a mosquito in the web for him.

28) Are you an adult?:
Supposedly, I guess I do own a house, I guess they wouldn't let kids to that.

29) Where is your best friend?:
She's lurking outside the main conference room waiting for it to clear out to score a free second lunch from Quizno's.

30) Do you have a tan?:
Of course I do! Although it's a farmer tan from baseball at the moment, I'll have to even it out better.

31) Are you a television addict?:
Not really. I watch a little more since I started dating Darrell, but I still don't watch much.

32) Do you enjoy spending time with your mother?:
Now that I don't live at home anymore I do.

33) Are you a sugar freak?:
nah, I'm a salt freak.

34) Do you like orange juice?:
I also like it packed with pulp. If you can't chew it, it doesn't have enough pulp

35) What sign are you?:
Cancer

36) Where do you wish you were right now?:
I'm kinda happy being at work at the moment. I just needed to take a break from logic problems.

37) Who did you copy this from?:
Erika sent this out and I thought, why not.

38) How do you know them?:
Back in the day in high school, I mean, from last year, in high school (shifty eyes)

39) Do you think you're badass?:
not at all, I don't think I have a badass bone in my body.

40) Do you wanna get married?:
Not at the moment. I like just taking care of me for once. Maybe in the future, if I find the right guy, but I'm happy with the way things are right now. There's too much non-married stuff I want to do.

Finally

Like the title says, finally I have some time to sit down and write. Hopefully before I've forgotten everything I've done.

Ball was cancelled yesterday and today, it's too rainy and cold here. I'm actually kinda glad it was cancelled. Yesterday I finally crammed everything into my store room from my spare room closet. It looks all pretty and organized now, and every time I go by the store room, I open the door and admire my organization. Everything I don't need or won't need for years, at the back, everything I use regularly at the front and if I do need something from the back, I made myself a path to get there and get it without too many problems. I make a contented sigh everytime I look in that store room.

May long was awesome. Did some chillaxing at the lake. I headed to the lake on Friday night with Darrell and Matt. We stopped in Kenaston to buy some road beer for the boys. I'm pretty sure they were both cut by the time we actually reached the lake. So we hung out Friday, played some games, Saturday they took apart my sega controllers and fixed them, I played some paperboy and mortal kombat (I love those games, shoulda taken out the baseball 2020, which rocks as well). Heather and Sarah and Dave showed up, we played some Settlers of Catan, and then the sun came out so we played lawn games. We have some old school lawn darts that impale things and we have bocce ball. We started making up our own rules to bocce, on how you would have to throw and obstacles which would disqualify your bocce, and it became extreme bocce ball. That night we ran out of booze and had to go into Ft. Qu'appelle to the offsale at The Squire. That was an adventure. Rumours that there were strippers in the bar turned out to be a couple of 19 year old girls bouncing in a blow up trampoline enclosure. And they weren't taking their clothes off. The boys looked disappointed. Sunday we played some catch, hiked a hill in the valley, got to go on the boat, all nice summer things. And then we played lots of board games.

Sheesh this is a long post. This is what happens when I don't blog for a while.

I saw the series finale of Gilmore Girls. It was sad and very disappointing. It felt rushed to tie up loose ends and the characters goodbyes were very textbook dry. I wish the original writer had written it, it didn't have closure or wit.

Hopefully going bike shopping tomorrow. I'd like a cruiser bike but we'll see what's out there and what fits me. I find my tastes keep on getting tackier and tackier as I get old, but I'm more comfortable as I get older too. Why else would I buy a pink baseball mitt? But I'll get what I want if it makes me happy and if other people think it's odd, I'm okay with that.

Bike a rama

I so want this bike, it rocks.

Things that make me want to stick a fork in my eye

1. Endless file revisions
2. Endless code redesigns
3. Ever changing database schemes
4. Traffic in Saskatoon (it seriously goes no where, it's deadlocked)
5. Deadlocked Databases
6. Rain
7. Cold
8. Rain and Cold together

(much more optimistic update to come later, just at work prying the fork outta my hand)
(just haven't had the time to update this, been having too much fun)

All work and no play make Candice something something

So I made it back from my hike. I'm pretty proud of myself, I don't think I've ever done anything of that magnitude. 40 km in 2 days on your feet! That's pretty good! Plus I wasn't even in as rough as shape as some of the guys when it was over. I must be more in shape than I thought. Yeah overall the hike went well, lots of time to think and enjoy scenery. You can take a look at my commented adventure at my picture site.

Work has been busier than normal. I found out having the colour red on my computer desktop makes me crazy. It fills me with rage and then makes me snap at people. I feel much calmer now that I got rid of the red. I never really believed in that type of thing until I had experienced it for myself.

I made a sad discovery that Gilmore Girls is coming to an end. The series finale is indeed next week. I'm sorry to see that show go, but on the otherhand, without the original writer, it had kinda fallen apart so it's a good thing.

Tonight is my first ball game of the season! Hooray for ball! I'm excited and looking forward. Everything seems to just make sense on a ball diamond for some reason, just feels comfortable, I don't know how to explain it.

I'm going to Regina this weekend for Heather's birthday and for Mother's day, so we'll see how that goes. Dave was here in Saskatoon on Monday, and I had a nice visit with him. I miss Dave so much and I'll see him more at the party on Saturday. And Brett's wedding is creeping up on me, I'll have to plan that out a little more and contact everyone in Calgary whom I want to visit. And of course go through the Ikea catalog and see if there's anything I need from there. And of course celebrate a good buddy's wedding by partying hard. I hope I get all that in.

40km of hiking goodness

No, I'm not hiking to Mars or even the moon as James suggested. I'm hiking in Waskisieu to Grey Owl's cabin. I'm excited I haven't been on a good hike for a while. It's 20km to the cabin and 20km back. We'll be camping overnight. I'm going with a bunch of the people from work.

So I had to go out and get all kinds of camping hiking equipment and found some pretty neat things. I got some pants that zip off into capris or shorts that are pretty cool. They fit old school with the high waist but if it saves room in my back pack instead of packing multiple pairs of pants so be it. And I bought a really light and warm sleeping bag from Canadian Tire. I had to get a new backpack to fit all this stuff in as well.

So I packed it all up last night with everything I need, just to make sure it won't be too heavy for the hike. All I'm missing now is some food and I'm ready to go Saturday. I'm excited. Stay tuned for the pictures when I come back!
