Vacation Part Deux

oh man. Drama, stress and relief. That is the only way I can describe vacation part 2.

Well wed and thurs I spent at the lake. Did some boating and tubing and tanning. Tubing was crazy fun in our new tube, I think it's more aerodynamic than the last. I have lots of blisters on my hands and some broken blood vessles in my forearms from it. Oh and a scrap on my back. It was worth it though.

Dad's surgery was supposed to be on thursday but it got cancelled due to all the warm weather and the air conditioning in the hospitals not being able to keep up or breaking down completely. But they ended up rescheduling it quickly, for the next day. It went well. He stayed in for a couple days and got out today.

Today I was going a little stir crazy and had to get out. I washed the vehicles here, none of them mine unfortunately.

As for thoughts untangling themselves, they are a bit and I feel calm about everything and have a game plan.

Oh! I got a sweet board game for $1.84, that I haven't played yet. So I guess I don't know if it's sweet or not yet. But less than $2! So sweet. It's a DVD game based on the plot lines of 24.

I bought some cool nail polish that can't decide if it's purple or pink. I enjoy it, yes I am indeed relazing on my vacation somewhat.

Oh I was also contemplating today if Specimen is the plural of Speciman.........

Time, she wants revenge

So, here I am. Phase 1 of vacation complete.

I spent friday drinking at Winston's. The after eight martini there is to die for and at $5 for 2 ounces, the price was right. I stumbled home and it was exactly what I needed.

Dan and I found the worlds longest Pedestrian bridge in Outlook on Saturday. It really was amazing to see. I really wish I had my camera with me. It was so hot that day and the bridge was sooo long. It was quite the adventure.

Sunday I headed up to Sturgeon lake with my family. My aunt and uncle have a gorgeous cottage out there. I suntanned, swam in the ridiculously hot lake, the water was 84F. I also polished off 2 novels and a magazine. I learned to kayak better, that was really cool. I found out there's a big difference between a cheap and expensive kayak paddle. Expensive = less man power and more speed. They also have a really tame squirrel. He'd jump on my leg and I could give him a peanut. He was cute.

So I'm in Regina now. I'll probably be here for a little while. My Dad has surgery on thursday, I'm hoping that goes well. I think I'll treat myself to a spa day tomorrow if it's a scorching +50 with humidity out again. Otherwise I'm going to tune up the bike here and run some errands.

I hung out with Pumpkin tonight. He's alot less timid than he was, and he likes his laser pointer. Although he thinks the laser can't get to him while he's in his cardboard box. Silly cat. Now I'm just alone with my thoughts. And it's nice. Let's hope they untangle themselves.

Hey, good looking, why the frown?

I can't believe it's almost the end of July. No, I haven't forgot about blog world, it's just there's been so much going on that I don't even know where to start. This last little while has been crazy. Work is insanely busy, my social life is even more tumultuous and busy. Where do I start?

Guess I'll start from some point. Darrell and I broke up a couple weeks ago. I didn't think it was a bad breakup, we're trying to do the friends thing, but that's proving harder than we both thought. At the moment we're not even talking really, or I don't know, I don't know where it stands. After vacation I'll deal with it more, for now, I think space for both parties is the best.

Dan and I started talking again. He's admitted to having a WoW addiction and is starting to handle and deal with that. I'm as supportive as I can be, he never was a bad person, but it was a bad problem that didn't bring out the best in him.

So, where does that leave me? Right here. I have a vacation starting Saturday. I have a whole 2 weeks off. I'll be bumming around Regina and the lake. Hopefully I'll be able to clear my mind a little and get some sun. I'll be in touch with all you Regina-ians to get in some visiting.

I'm looking forward to fitting some peace and relaxing in. Just clear my mind, have some fun, and see what pops up in there. Barbara's bday party is on Friday, I'm looking forward to having quite a few drinks at Winston's and stumbling home. Now that's how you start a vacation.

Birthday Survey

Where we gonna be when we turn 25? This is a questionnaire that my friend Erika made up when she turned 25. The deal is you fill it out and send it out when you turn 25! Do NOT send it out now if you are not 25! Mark your calendars for subsequent years!

We were born in 1982, and we were the class of 2000… And that’s exactly where the inspiration for this comes from. Our graduating song, ‘Friends Forever by Vitamin C.’ I bet no one has even heard it since then. Try listening to it now – it will bring a tear to your eye! There is a line in it which asks “where we going to be when we turn 25?” And what do you know? Now we can answer that question…

1. What fantastic day in 1982 were you born on? July 5th

2. When you were 18, where did you picture yourself in 7 years? I had no idea when I was 18, I just knew I'd be done school. I wanted to by a psychiatrist, then I learned I need to operate on cadavers, then I chose a new carreer path.

3. If you were to tell your 18-year-old self about your life today, what do you think would surprise you the most?

That I live in saskatoon alone and own a gorgeous condo.

4. What would your 18-year-old self be disappointed to hear about?

That I haven't been to Europe yet.

5. You’re 25. So, where are you?

oh, if only I knew! I'm working in Saskatoon as a computer programmer, that's about all I know.

6. What kind of job do you have? Is it what you thought?

I had an inkling but I wasn't sure. I thought I'd be in Video games, but then I learned about their development process and didn't want to have anything to do with that.

7. Are you still “friends forever” with your high school friends?

I see everyone from time to time, but I'm terrible at keeping in touch!

8. How do you feel about being 25?

Well at first I didn't want to turn 25 at all, I wanted to be 24 for the 2nd time. But now I"m just glad 24 is over with, bring on a new age with 25.

9. What's the most reckless/irresponsible/spontaneous thing you’ve done in your life so far?

Obviously you people don't know me. I'm none of the above. In fact I'm probably still known as "the responsible one" in the high school crowd. I gave my number to a guy at the bar once. (gasp!)

10. Did you have a high school sweetheart, and are you still with them? If not, what happened to them?:
I did actually. It was Rick Lorenz. No I'm not with him. He's training to become a pharmacist and has a faux hawk now. Was that your comment on the Strong Man Rick? That's like 7 years ago, get over it ;)

11. How many actual boyfriends/girlfriends have you had since you were 18?: since I was 18? Man this is going to be short. I think there's been 4.

12. If the theory that you only get two great loves in your life is true… Are you already
Screwed?
Nope I gots room for one more I think. But after that I'm screwed.

13. How many serious relationships (over 6 months) have you had since you were 18? 1

14. Has your “type” changed from then until now? Describe:
Definitely. I actually want to be treated like a girl now. I know, what happened?

15. Have you gotten engaged, married, had children, divorced?
Got engaged, got disengaged, no marriage, children or divorce.

16. Have you purchased any real estate?
For sure. I love my place.

17. How have your looks changed since high school?
Yuppers. I just look older and wiser and more filled out.

18. What has been your greatest achievement to date?

My University Degree and all the records I set in the cooperative education program there, for being offered the most jobs and interviews.

19. What is one thing that you used to do (interest/hobby/etc) when you were 18 that you no longer do? I miss my clarinet so much. I'm going to look into an adult band in the fall.

20. Out of your high school friends, who do you think ended up exactly where you expected?
I agree with everyone on this. Enobong, you totally stayed the course ;)

21. Out of your high school friends, who do you think ended up the furthest from where you expected?
Crystal, who knew she'd have 2 gorgeous children and living in a small town with a hunky fiance.

22. How are you celebrating the big 2-5? By having a nervous breakdown and planning my life. Dave took me out for supper, and Darrell took me to see Julius Caesar, that play is awesome.

23. Where do you see yourself in 7 more years? (32):
oh dear. I dunno. I think I want my own business by then, I'll hopefully be worldly and have a wonderful husband.

24. What do you plan to accomplish during your 25th year?
hmmmm, I dunno. I kinda want to set some good foot holds in my career, and make some sorta big life change.

25. And lastly, question 25. (Hopefully this isn’t too tricky.) Include “before and after” photos of yourself! Let’s see the 18-year-old you VS the 25-year-old you of today!
