One of these reflective posts again, if you don't like them, I suggest you skip this one.
When I look back on 2007, I don't even know how to begin to describe it. I had some of my greatest moments along with some of my worst. It was all over the place.
The beginning of the year brought on a new relationship. One I wasn't entirely ready for or ready to accept fully, but it happened, and I'm glad. I adventured on some major physical feats, including joining gymnastics and doing a 40km hike.
The summer was tough but also fun. I had to straighten out some things that were really bothering me on a personal level. Dave also lived with me for the summer. That was fun and interesting. It proved to me that I'm not un-livable, as I previously thought. Brett and Alnaar got married. My Dad retired. I tried to mend some bridges the best I knew how from 2006. It was really interesting. I had my first real nervous breakdown. I don't recommend it.
The fall I got to be a part of Barbara and Brant's wedding. Darrell and I found a niche that worked, and we got to know and trust eachother more. And I started to do alot more of the things that made me me again. Overall it was just a time to make myself happy and be comfortable again. And I really am.
To summarize the year, I really regained my self confidence back. It was really bruised in the breakup in 2006.
Hopefully this next year will be a little more even kiltered. I solved alot of the things that were making me off kilter in 2007, psychologically, personally and even chemically. 2008 is already bringing lots of big questions that need answers, and I'm going to have to face some decisions I've been putting off for a little while now. Examples being, deciding what I'm doing on the job front and relationship fronts. 2008 will be the time to really really think about these, while not allowing outside pressure to influence my decisions. I will be doing alot more travelling in 2008 as well. They key is not to stress and just enjoy. Life is all about change, and if you can't adapt, you're going to have a 2007 every year. I wish I could list all the revelations I had this year, but I can't, there's way too many.
I guess I was right in stating the fact that life didn't really begin until after school was over, but that was only because I wouldn't let it, it wasn't really a reality, just something that happened because I believed that. The biggest lesson I learned of all this year, was to live for today, not for the future. You miss alot of things waiting for things that may or may not happen. Having dreams and goals doesn't need to mean putting everything in life on hold until you get there.
Also, I learned that when I worry about things, I need to tell people, otherwise they drive me crazy. There are so many times in the last 2 years where I wish I would have vocalized them more. I'm better about them now. The key is having people that you're comfortable confiding in, and who won't freak out. Alot of times I was more fearful of the reaction that someone got from my worries than the actual thing I was worrying about. And when that happens it's almost instant panic attack. Most of the time the worry isn't even significant. But if there's a reaction to it, then my brain goes crazy. The key is to not even get to that point. Also I learned that high drama people, elicit high drama reactions in me.
Wow, this got way more reflective than I thought. I invite everyone to reflect on the past year a little, and then let it go to make way for 2008.
Happy New Years!

The holidays
So far the holidays have been quite good to me. I really can't believe I'm only here in Regina for another day. This week has gone by so fast! I'm not even close to being bored yet. That's usually the norm for me around Christmas, I usually get bored. I haven't had the time to be bored.
I spent quite a bit of time with Darrell's family. We had lots of fun. They held a chinese gift exchange with random stuff from their basement. I'm happy to say I came out of it with a cooler! Score! Darrell unfortunately won some sorta solar battery charger, I think he traded it in for something else from the basement.
My family did our usual Christmas eve supper with our cousins. I had some mighty delicious stuffed trout. It was yummy. For Christmas Santa left me all kind of goodies, including a George Forman ( I opened it and exclaimed "It's George!"), and new pots and pans, they were desperately needed. I also got lots of socks, and a really nice ring from Darrell. It's white gold and has 3 hearts with diamonds on it. It's purdy. Also got a purple purse to match my purple pumps. And Mario Galaxies for Wii. And BBQ tools! No more dinner fork and jumping out of the way of flames for me! We watched a tonne of movies Christmas day. Including Pee Wee Herman's Christmas special. Let me tell you, that was entertaining! Who knew that he knew so many famous gay people, wow!
Dave, Angelica, Darrell and I went toboganning on Christmas Eve. It was a blast, I have many a bruise. Crazy Carpets like to sideways alot and then catch an edge and then you go rolling down the hill. It was much fun. Dave seemed to have the most skills with sliding.
Boxing day we went real sledding. Darrell and I took the ski doos for a rip around the lake. So much fun. Well once Darrell got used of going fast enough anyways. A couple times I had to stop and wait.
The 'high school reunion + Wes' party was also entertaining. I hadn't seen everyone in so long. I didn't get as good of a visit in as I wanted to with everyone but a glimpse was good.
And then I'm all booked until Toni's party on Friday in S'toon. Man how time flies. I could use some more of this vacationing and fun.
Also we have a guest rabbit over the holidays. We're taking care of Ian's rabbit. He is so cute. I could take him home. Ian calls him McLovin', Kristen calls him George, I call him BunnyRat. He likes to be pet and comes to you when you go near his cage. I've got him to flop over on his side on command almost, and he plays with you. He'll charge at you and stomp his foot when he's playful, he'll also try to push you around. He's cute. Pumpkin doesn't really bother with him either and he doesn't seem to care about Pumpkin, seems to be working out.
Thought I'd give you all an update. I'll be back hopefully soon to write my new year's wishes and goals. Too much visiting and fun to be had!

Anticipation
Whew, finally a break. Well I'm just compiling but it's some sort of mental break anyways.
It's been so busy at work that I didn't even realize that tomorrow is friday! Yay Friday! Yay Christmas break. Darrell's sister and boyfriend are staying at my place tomorrow night, stopping over in s'toon before they go to Regina. They were going to sleep on Darrell's floor, but I'm pretty excited to have someone use my guest room. I think only a handful of people have. No one visits me (I'm looking in your direction mom and dad). Also Blair's bday is Saturday so he's having a party friday night with plenty of eggnog. I plan on conducting an experiment to see how many rum and eggnogs it takes for it to curdle in my stomach while sitting in a hot tub. Don't tell me the answer, I need to experiment!! ;) Then Sat morning we'll head down to Regina.
I felt absolutely terrible this morning. Not sick but just terrible. I had one of those dreams where you relive past experiences in your life, almost to the exact moment. And then you wake up feeling exactly the same as you did in that moment. No fun. My dreams are so vivid too, sometimes it's hard to tell it didn't happen. Last night I relived June 7th, 2006. (See, must've been a monumental day if I can remember the exact date.) On a similar humorous note, a couple months ago I had a 'made up' dream that Darrell had taken a phone call and went to Calgary to do a booty call with his ex girlfriend. I told him not to go but he went. In the morning when I woke up, I was actually mad at him. And I mean really mad at him. The poor guy did nothing, but I felt very hostile towards him. So I had to tell him about that one so I could distinguish between real life and dreams, and we had a good laugh and I wasn't mad anymore. But that's how vividly I dream. It's pretty crazy.

Equilibrium

Equilibrium
I was there for you when you were down,
I thought if I were cheery, I could pick us both up
-1
I tried my best to make everything right.
Your problems became my problems and I worried for the both of us
-1
I started to ignore myself and just trusted I was on the right path.
I tried to fix everything for the both of us
-1
I stumbled and fell.
I was hoping that you'd do the same for me as I did for you.
But instead you piled more and more of you on top of me
And I couldn't recover, I couldn't get up.
-1 + -1 + -1 + -1 + -1 .................
I no longer could be happy for both of us
I no longer could worry for both of us
I no longer could fix things for both of us
I couldn't get up.
=
I learned I could be happy for me +1
I learned I could worry for me +1
I learned I could fix me +1
I had to crawl out from under the pile. 1+1+1+1........
And here I am again.

It's almost here!
Work is crazy this week. I can see the lights are still on there. Darrell and I were supposed to go see a movie but he had to work overtime. I worked some as well too. I'll be happy to see friday come.
Everything for Christmas is ready to go around here. All the presents are wrapped. Good thing to because I ran out of wrapping paper on the very last present. And it keeps me from buying more stuff for Darrell since then I'd have to go buy more wrapping paper. I think he has enough under the tree as it is. It's pretty packed under there. It looks so pretty, I should take another picture. I've been cleaning like crazy this week. One thing I hate is being away for a week and coming back to chaos. Everything is organized and clean again. My bedroom looks like a department store bedroom again. I find it funny how I have the goal of having my bedroom looking like a department store. I don't know where that came from. Sleeping in a mall would be cool, no? Maybe it's just that it represents perfection. Yeah that could be it.
Speaking of my bedroom I don't think I told blog world that my new curtains are up! Yay! They look so nice, and they hang so level and straight and centered and can probably support grown men doing chin ups on the rod. Well that part is thanks to Darrell. I did spend about 4 hours trying to use the self hemming strip that came with them, ironing, steaming and hanging. They were alot of work, but I think it was worth it. I will also have to take a picture but the battery in my camera is dead right now and I don't feel like looking for the charger at the moment.
The skating rink at the Bess has been taunting me the last couple days. I so want to just grab my skates and go. Maybe thursday, there's just so much to do, and I don't want to be skating without anyone around after dark, that's not safe, and that would mean getting out of work before dark, hmmmm......
oh friday, why aren't you here?

The Weekend before Christmas Weekend!
Haven't had much time to be on here lately. Lots to do at work, then when I get home even more to do.
Christmas shopping and wrapping is almost complete. I have one gift left to buy and wrap and I'm done. I ran out of tape the other day in the middle of wrapping. It was quite sad, I had been wrapping for 2 hours straight and wasn't really sick of it, I was on a roll! So that forced me to stop.
I finally got a new hair cut. I'm excited. It's been like 3 years with the same hairstyle. That is definitely not fun. I'm still figuring this hairstyle out, it looks good though.
Yesterday was the end of the beard growing competition at work. Shannon and I judged it again. We made a couple modifications to the judging scheme. This year we gave away small ribbons for the best in each category: rugged handsomeness, length, thickness, and resembles a sasquatch. Blair won the last category. We made them all buttons and ribbons with the category that we won. Also we took the trophy away from last year's winner and reconfigured it so that we could keep engraving names on it and pass it around to the over all winner. We had to re-glue the beard back on the trophy too, but it shouldn't come off again. Alex dropped out of the contest early, he had to shave his beard to go to a funeral. So yesterday he came around with a bribe, a cookie and an orange and link to this blog. I've never been one to not accept a bribe, so we made a new category last minute. I made a ribbon for him out of stray office supplies for the "Alex Bearded Spirit Award". The ribbon had a fake beard and mustache glued on that I made out of sharpie pen and a post-it. It was pretty sweet, and Alex looked surprised. We held the award presentation at Fuddruckers, where all the guys also decided to have an eating contest at the same time. They all tried to eat 1lb burgers. Kerry ate a 2lb burger in less than 10 mins! It was inhumane!
The Christmas party rocked this year. We had lots of fun and check out the pictures on the right, they tell the story better than me ;)

Sweet Memories
Today is the day of the work Christmas party. I'm excited about it. It'll be lots of fun. I had so much fun last year. Eating, dancing, drinking, more eating, more drinking.
This afternoon, I've been trying to rest up. So I did my christmas cards. It's nice to look back on the last year and wish people well. It really makes you take a look at who has influenced your life in the last year. Aw, I'm all nostalgic and happy.
I'd really like to wish an Ex and their family Merry Christmas. But I think that's taboo and I don't want to stir up anything. So a blog entry and the nice thought will have to do.
I'm excited about Christmas and spending it with my family and Darrell's family. I think I can truthfully say that this year I'm really looking forward to Christmas. I have no quarams or concerns. I'm having so much fun shopping and wrapping and decorating and volunteering. I'm really looking forward to the holidays.
New Year's is still up in the air. Darrell's friends have rented a cabin and are going out there. It sounds like a blast, snow tubing and zip lining in the snow. And Barbara, Toni and Brant want to go dancing, which is also tonnes of fun. Decisions, decisions. Plus we've been doing this for a number of years now, it wouldn't be new year's without them!
Well it's time to start prettying myself up for the Christmas party! Did I mention it's formal? I love Christmas!

Piano Blink
I absolutely love this song. If I heard it last year I probably would of started bawling. But now I can just smile at it and reminisce bittersweet-ly, because everything now is okay.
Song: Piano Blink
Artist: Hawksley Workman
Let’s lie and say that it’s alright
Let’s lie and say that it’s alright
When we fight together
Let’s say we’re happy even though, even though
Let’s be happy even though,
we know we’re both done tryin'
How would we know
That we’d both end up cryin'
They say let go
I guess we’re still stuck tryin'
I get too nervous
I’m lost in this heartbreak
How long will this love keep me down
It started innocent at first, at first
It started with some sweetheart words that I strung together
And then we saw each other’s eyes, each other’s eyes
And it was like seeing the starry night for the very first time.
Remember when
We both said it’s forever
C’mon baby
Were we just being clever
I get too nervous
I’m lost in this heartbreak
How long will this love take me down
Some things don't softly go
But it’s over now
Somebody gonna hurt somebody
It’s over now
Somebody gonna hurt somebody
Some things things don't softly go
But it’s over now
Somebody gonna hurt somebody
It’s over now
Somebody gonna hurt somebody
They say it happens all the time, all the time
That early love will make you blind as a sun eclipsin'
But we just drove past all the signs, all the signs
Not caring what the wise men say
What we might be missin'
How would we know
That we’d both end up cryin'
They say let go
I guess we’re still stuck tryin'
I get too nervous
I’m lost in this heartbreak
How long will this love take me down

Abominable Snowmen!
Wow, it's been forever since I've been on here. This blog interface feels foreign it's been so long. I've been really busy lately.
Regina weekend was relaxing and lots of fun. I harassed Pumpkin, visited with friends and family, caught up on some movies all good.
The next week I finally moved all my stuff to the new office. What a gong show! But now I work a block away from home and am all set up there. I have a nice window in my office now and I'm enjoying being downtown. Shannon and I took a walk outside today by the river, way more scenic than walking out by the airport!
Work is pretty hectic right now. I've been there late all this week. I can't wait for Christmas break right now. Hooray for a week off!
Darrell and I went to Calgary for the weekend. We stayed with his sister and brother in law in South Calgary. It felt like a whirlwind but we had lots of fun. I got to see John's new condo! And Jared and Conrad and various other Calgarians. I hurt John's feelings by going to Ikea without him. I seriously thought that Barbara and I tortured him last time by making him carry our stuff. There'll be a next time John. I did find some awesome curtains at Ikea to match my bedroom lamps. I'll have to get Darrell to hang them. I could do it, but he's so much handier and it'll probably be perfectly level and centered if he does it, I tend to get a little frustrated with that stuff sometimes and then it ends up good enough. There wasn't even any fighting or annoyances on the trip, weird. I think that's a road trip first. We saw Darrell's sister's art exhibit downtown, it was very cool, also had supper with Brett and Alnaar. It was so nice to see them. Alnaar is so cute and pregnant, it was nice to see. Darrell and I ended up being 40 mins late for supper though! It was my fault though, I was navigating on the map and didn't see which way Darrell turned on McLeod. We ended up going South instead of North, and I didn't realize which way we were going until we were far south, I was too enthralled in navigating and planning which way to go. And no fight, go figure. Still amazed at that. I took Darrell to his first 'all you can eat sushi' restaurant. All day, out of nowhere, I had to listen to impromptu yellings of "Sushi BBQ!" coming from him. But we found him a new winter coat that day so it was all worth it. He also got some really hot work clothes from Mexx. I didn't do any clothes shopping, I was happy with just doing Ikea. I got to meet Darrell's brother's family. His nieces are cute and sweet. Overall just a fun weekend.
Hopefully I get to do some christmas shopping this week. I have so many good ideas, I need to get on them. I'll share after Christmas, one is totally sweet.

Roadtrips!
oh my. I'm about to stick a fork in my eye. Work is officially insane and I'm tired of being here. I would love to go home but I can't because I didn't drive myself here today. It was snowy and icey and I got a ride from Darrell instead. I really shoulda ventured out myself, it actually wasn't that bad. Then I wouldn't have to sit here and start tomorrow's work. I really don't want to start tomorrow's work and I don't think Darrell's near done. sigh...but that's what you get when you chicken out on the driving, lesson learned.
This weekend was fun. As you saw, I took out my tree, and started writing Christmas cards already. Saturday we went to the symphony. The guest pianist was absolutely amazing and the Tchaikovsky was as good as I remembered it. We had a nice supper at Chianti's that night too. mmmmm, artichokes and smoked salmon on linguine with dill sauce. Too good. Also watched the Roughriders make it into the Grey Cup! Go Riders! Shannon, Blair and Matt immediately bought plane tickets to Toronto after the game. They also got really good seats in Toronto. I'll be happy watching it on a tv. Although Toronto would be lots of fun. I also got a chance to visit with Enobong on Sun, I haven't seen her for quite a while, it was nice.
This week, like I said, has lots of work to be done. Also I think I ran a PB at the gym on Monday. It's hard to tell, I swear different treadmills have different settings even though they say they are the same. So, yay me! It was soooo nice outside Monday night, I woulda loved to have ran outside but unfortunately it was sheer ice.
This weekend I'm actually looking forward to going to Regina. I know, what's the deal? Maybe I've finally become a little homesick. That's a big maybe. Friday night I'm looking forward to spending the night with Heather and Matt and Wes at BPs. If you're reading this and you're in Regina and want to see me, come to BPs on Friday night! Darrell is helping out with some family things for the bulk of the weekend. I get to hang out with Pumpkin, watch the Rider game, and decorate another tree, only to have it re-decorated by my Mom. I thought I could avoid that last one, but I guess I can't. At least my tree is the way I want it. Maybe I'll just decorate the cat instead. They like that, don't they?
Next weekend is Calgary weekend! Yay Calgary! Yay short week! Also I should be moving into my new office next week. I'm excited to see Brett, Alnaar and John and selected other Calgarians. I'm torn on whether I should hit up Ikea....This is Darrell and mine's first road trip. (Going to Regina doesn't count) Should be interesting, I'm curious how it will go. You can tell alot about a person on a road trip. Previous roadtrips with boyfriends have revealed lots of truths of what they actually think of you. Like whether or not they secretly think you're a moron or if they trust your judgement. Whether or not they have tolerance for you and vice versa. Then the next most fun test, exactly how tolerant are they of you and finding the limit. How many empty cans of tomato juice can you keep in their car until they snap? How many times can you play ABBA Gold until it is threatened to be thrown out the window? Yes you might want to start writing your condolence letters to Darrell now....

Christmas Tree Day
More of a weekend update to come later, I just wanted to show y'all my tree!
I love Christmas Tree day. I think this year's tree even has a little less tack, I'm not sure, you guys decide.

Keeping the Riff Raff out
Here I thought this week wasn't going to be busy. Boy was I wrong! There's a major deadline at work coming up, I've been working hard on that, I'm in a new temporary cube, it's kinda a nice change of scenary and then the normal gyming etc. My allergies have been going crazy with all the dust they've kicked up around the office for the move. It just never ends.
Speaking of the new office, I got a tour of it last week. It looks really good and it'll be nice to work so close to home. I have an office facing south by the window, it'll be nice and sunny and hopefully warm. I picked the quieter side of the building, I find it easier to go towards the noise and fun than have it come to me. The 3rd floor used to be a mail sorting area and there's a walkway all around it with windows looking down, supposedly to catch people stealing out of the mail. After all the renovations, they kept that walkway. It's kinda interesting and funny.
I've really been craving red meat lately. It's not even funny. Here's the thing, I don't really like red meat. The only way I like it is if it's in ground meat form and from what I know, that's not really meat anymore. I enjoy it when it's seasoned so much that I can't really taste the meat....So I went on a vitamin spree yesterday. I must be low in something, I'm thinking Iron. I normally take a multivitamin but it's been a couple months, vitamins are just so expensive that I kinda stopped. So no more skimping on vitamins, lets see if that's what I need and if the red meat craving stops.
I can't wait till the weekend. I might have to come into work, but banking some holiday time is never a bad thing. I'm going to set up my Christmas tree this weekend. I'm so excited about that! I started looking at all the weekends until Christmas and there aren't too many free, which is why setting up the tree this weekend would be the best. Also need to get a start on Christmas shopping, I hate shopping in December. Saturday is date night. We're going to the Symphony and out for supper. The orchestra is playing a Tchakovsky piece, my favorite. I also think there's a guest pianist. Exciting!
A Calgary trip is in the works for the December 1st weekend. All you Calgarian's take note, I'll be in contact with you soon once we have our dates finalized. And Saskatchewanians who want something from Calgary, put in your orders now, I think an Ikea trip might be in the cards, plus Darrell's sis has an art exhibit up in downtown Calgary at the Globe theater, I suggest you Calgarian's check it out.
Really, I'm procrastinating to find a problem in my latest code. But I suppose I should get back to that.....

Sliding
Long weekend was pretty fun. Saturday I went to a Novemeberance Eve/Sex toy party. It was lots of fun and I got to see one of my favorite people, James! Not to mention the party throwers had 2 cats. I got my fill that night. Also reminds me that I need to write an email to all my friends at my old job, it's been far too long....
Watched the football game on Sun. Didn't go see it in Regina, I thought about it, then I factored in how much I hated cold and somehow rationalized that it was better watching it on HD. It looked pretty phenomenal on HD and I was warm. I'm kicking myself a little, I totally shoulda went. But I did cook an amazing supper that night. I made a Blue Cheese Filet Mignon on the BBQ, it was soooooo good, and for dessert I made a Rhubarb Cobbler.
Monday I took Darrell for his very 1st waterslide. I never knew there was a technique to watersliding. My instructions of "just sit on the slide and go" did not work very well. I sit on the slide and go.....I don't understand! He got the hang of it at the end, it still sounded uncomfortable, but maybe men's watersliding is a completely different sport unbeknownst to me. It was much fun nonetheless, I fly on those slides, it's pretty awesome.
I finally bought a Wii this weekend! And it's everything I thought it could be. Although now I have a hankering to actually play all the sports in Wii Sports for real. The bowline is quite accurate, I was bowling 190-210, which is normal for me for 10 pin and the ball actually spins to the left like it normally does for me. Amazing, I'll actually have to go bowling soon now to make sure. Wii golf is more fun than real golf though. And I'm not good at it either, just like real golf! I don't have a hankering to be put in WarioWare in real life though.
I finally moved into my temporary cube at work today. It's right beside Darrell. Let's see how this goes. Hopefully I don't get Darrell-ed out. Kinda scared of this arrangement......

thought processing
The holes in my life can fill an eternity. Before you go thinking presently, I mean from my past. I need to fill them in to feel complete again. I need to let go to live again. I need to forgive to truly forget. I need to have balance in everything. I'm trying to put together a puzzle without all the pieces and it's keeping me from seeing a beautiful result. Because every smile was sincere, no laugh was forced. Yet I'll always be at the beach, waiting for you. Who I was will always be part of who I am.

70s Party!
Whoa, how do I fit this all in one blog post? I may not be able to.
This weekend was busy but it sure didn't feel busy, it felt lazy, but I did so much stuff, it can't be lazy at all!
Friday was Shannon's 30th bday party and what a better way to celebrate than to have a 70s theme, since that's when she was born. We all dressed up. For a pictoral documentation of this go here:
One thing I don't have pictures of from the bar is the firefighters from the firefighters calendar, they were there. I suppose they weren't as ripped as they looked in the calendar, but I thought they were pretty good looking. Might of had some good beer goggles by that point in the night though.
Also, ironically, the two worst dates of my life were there. I totally didn't remember either of their names. For those that have heard my bad date stories it was Staple Gun guy and Wall Punching guy. Luckily they didn't remember me, well if they did, they didn't approach me. I also can't believe I picked up regulars at the bar. I swear I asked them the leading questions to make sure they weren't regulars. Or, more egotistically, maybe they became regulars after they scored a date with me. I'm a pretty good catch.
We all had lots to drink, lots of dancing was done, I don't even remember some of the night apparently. I've never had that happen before. Saturday morning I was looking for my blue sweater, I realized that I left it in Darrell's car at the bar. Then he comes out of the living room with my sweater, I don't remember going to the car to get it before jumping in the cab. Scary. But nonetheless it was fun.
Saturday I had quite the headache. We decided to go for breakfast at Humpty's. I love the half litre of tomato juice I get there. The servers always question me when I order a humpty sized juice. "Are you sure you want that much tomato juice?" Of course I'm sure! But we went to the restaurant and waited forever for our food. The waitress finally comes and gives it to us and walks away fast. I look at mine and I can tell it's been sitting for a long time. It had hollandaise sauce on it, of course, but it had gellified. I touched Darrell's and his eggs were ice cold! We started eating it, we were starving by that time. The waitress didn't come back till the end of our meal, and was no where during the meal, I told her it was horrible and cold, and she tells us when we're done to just to walk out. Don't bother to pay. Weird, never had that happen before..... So yeah free cold breakfast.
We saw American Gangster that night. It was a pretty good movie, I enjoyed it. The beginning was a little slow for me, but it picked up.
Sunday I went for a walk to visit the muskrat and got some good pics of him in the above album. Also went to the pool for 2 hours to help Darrell with his swimming. I was quite impressed with the progress. And I ordered a tonne of greasy chinese food for supper and for lunches this week. mmmm, chicken chow mein, almond gai ding and szechuwan been. So yeah lots was done, but it didn't feel like alot, it was fairly relaxed.

Interesting Quote
From the 4-hour Workweek:
The opposite of Love is Indifference,
the opposite of Happiness is Boredom.
So true.

Hallow's Eve
Tonight I'm going to Value Village to put the last things together on my costume for tomorrow. Also I have a 70's party on Friday night that I need to find some pants for. I have some cool 70's style shirts, but alas, all my bell bottomed pants have been donated to charity or have fallen apart.
Brant and Barb are having a low key halloween potluck. Perfect for me. Darrell's been hinting for me to make a Black Forest Trifle for the potluck, I'll have to go grab some ingredients tonight too.
I've been having some problems running lately. Mainly in the motivation department. Music isn't cutting it like it used to and TV moves too slow for me, almost doubley tortorous, forced to run and watch tv! So I downloaded an audiobook to my iPod. It's called "The 4 Hour Workweek". It claims to be a manual on how to take any job and turn it into a 4 hour workweek, leaving yourself time to actually live your life. It's pretty interesting actually. The main lesson is to not save everything for retirement but to take mini retirements throughout your life. Some of the book does sound like a get rich quick scheme in alot of ways. The author claims to own his own business, makes $40,000 a month, won a kickboxing championship in China, competes in the national tango championship in spain, etc. But it is interesting and gets me through my runs.
I don't really need anything on my outdoor runs, it's the indoor treadmilling that kills me! Once this book is over I think I'll find a german audiobook or french audiobook, may as well learn and refresh my languages while treadmilling. At the same time, I can't listen to these books without doing something else, so I think this might be a good system.

Blue Day
Sunday was a blue day. I don't know why. I have absolutely nothing to be sad about at the moment. Everything is going great, and there's lots of things to look forward to. But for some reason I had my funk on, and I couldn't figure it out.
I went for a run and a swim, still felt blue. Went into work, I had to anyways, but really couldn't shake it or sit still. Then I thought I'd go to my favorite thinking spot and figure it out. It's by the river and feels like you're on the edge of civilization, secluded but not too secluded. And there's a friendly Muskrat there that's entertaining and sets my mind at ease. So I went for a slow walk to my spot and sat there for a while, and still couldn't come up with anything for my funk.
So I left and went and ran some errands and somehow ended up at Darrell's house. I told him about my blue day, and to my surprise, he didn't try to get reasoning out of it, or take it personally. (That's a relationship first for me, exactly why I didn't end up there in the first place) We went for another walk and made some supper and watched some South Park. And indeed, by the end I felt much better, the blue was gone.
It still bugs me that I couldn't figure it out. But it's gone and I'm happy again. Maybe it's the just the time of year creeping up on me, I'm not entirely sure....

Hurts with Every Heartbeat

Maybe we could make it all right
We could make it better sometime
Maybe we could make it happen baby
We could keep trying
but things will never change
So I don’t look back
Still I’m dying with every step I take
But I don’t look back
Just a little, little bit better
Good enough to waste some time
Tell me would it make you happy baby
We could keep trying
but things will never change
So I don’t look back
Still I’m dying with every step I take
But I don’t look back

Beauty and the Geeks
So my office is moving downtown in the next couple weeks. We've all been picking out our cubes and organizing the move. I'm particularily looking forward to this, because work will be less than a block away from where I live. I really lucked out in that perpective. The downside is, that I can see work from my home, and work can see me. Also, for the last year and a bit,(I can't believe I've been a home owner for over a year!), I've been too cheap to buy blinds. I live on the 15th floor, there's not a big chance people can see in. But I think that luxury is over. The guys at work have been teasing that they've figured out the exact angles to see into my place. I'm going to have to break down and buy some blinds to keep my peace of mind. Paulthought he was really funny and sent me this:
I took a look at the optical properties of my new cube.
See attached results:

Funny, yes. But it's not even the right building he's looking at, which is good. I'll laugh when he gets a scope of a naked 90 year old in the old person building. Other's have offered to set up the Candy Cam and get a website going. I will have to think of something good to retaliate all this teasing with. It will come and people will be embarrassed, and it will be awesome, just you wait. Also if they intend on watching for me, they have about a 75% chance of seeing Darrell. That would be pretty funny. He's not a big fan of wearing clothes around the house either. Just ask Dave. Or that guy who reads the paper naked on the 10th floor in the old folks home, I think they've surprised each other.
Anyhoo, blind shopping is in full effect this weekend.

Llamas! One step closer....
Another weekend gone. I'm not looking forward to work tomorrow, no fun.
Saturday was the pet expo! It wasn't a very big expo and frankly I was a little disappointed. But it delivered one thing, llamas! There were all sorts, probably about 20 of them. They were cute. I learned about the many things to do with a llama. Apparently you can get them to carry stuff on hikes, they don't mind. You can teach them to pull things, like a sled and apparently you can teach them to do tricks, like fetch and lie down. I learned how to care for a llama, and what they need etc. Too bad llamas don't fit in condos. One day I'll have room for one, but at least now, I'm one step closer.
I said apparently they like to do tricks because we sat and watched a llama relay race and the llamas didn't look too impressed going through an obstacle course. One didn't seem to care but the other 6 didn't really want to be doing it.
Darrell and I went shopping on the weekend as well. I'm to the bottom of the barrel on my sports equiptment. I've needed new running shoes for over a year. The last ones I bought I threw out, since they rubbed against my right big toe nail and it ended up falling off. It grew back, but yeah, totally gross. And only the one foot for some reason. I found some new Nike ones this weekend and wore them all over today, to break em in before I take em running, and I noticed they rub a little too. So I cut that toe nail as short as I can and see if that makes a difference. But it's so weird, any runners out there know why this happens, on only one foot? I bought roomy sneakers this time and everything!
I also got a new racing swimsuit. It's time to go back to the pool. I was disappointed at the selection of racing swimsuits in town, it was truly dismal. I found one, but it's not very exciting, black with the a blue strip and racing back. Oh well, it suits my purposes and is not see through, it has everything I was looking for.
Today we did some midtown wandering, to break in the new shoes ;) I found my new favorite top, a short sleeved turtlenecked brown sweater dress. So cute and comfy and warm. It goes nice with my skinny jeans, which I'm still not used of wearing. It takes a while to get used of them after wearing over 10 years of flares and bell bottoms.
Tonight Darrell made me supper and I relaxed all my sore muscles in the hot tub. So relaxing, and so nice not to cook.

Vote!
If you're reading this you better be voting on Nov 7th. Of course, unless you don't live in Saskatchewan, then you can ignore this message.
It's funny, I was never really that interested in politics in high school. I just didn't understand. Then I think in either my 1st or 2nd years in university, there was an election with issues that directly affected me, and all of a sudden I was involved. That year there were debates on minimum wage (I worked at Superstore at the time) and promise of a new lab building at the UofR, and privitization of crown corporations, which I've worked for a few and my family works for. That year I voted. I didn't understand the history or what I was doing or left or right parties, but it started something.
The next semester I needed an elective and it had to be a night class. The only one that fit was Political Science. I loathed taking that class, as mentioned above, I didn't know a thing about politics and thought I didn't care. But actually that class was one of the most interesting in my university carreer. I learned so much about our government and the history of the political parties and the political spectrum. And now I'm involved, and make sure I follow the issues on the news.
Saskatchewan is also one of these weird provinces where we don't seem to vote on the government we want but rather against the government we don't want. This election making a distinguished vote for NDP or Sask Party is hard, their promises and platforms seem the same. There's nothing that really makes one stand out from the other besides history and their perspective places in the political spectrum. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
You know how I'm voting. NDP. I don't think I could live with myself by crossing into the blue, it doesn't represent my values.....
But all, get educated and vote for who you want! Don't let others dictate how this province is run, you have a choice too!

Existential Moods
It's so amazing the difference a year makes.
Some days I feel like I've been through a war, an absolutely terrifying war, that I battled long and hard through. There were victories and injuries, trojan horses, and everything in between. But I survived. I have injuries, but I survived.
Before, I've complained on this blog that I don't have any goals, and I'm restless when I don't have goals. But within the last couple weeks, I noticed I'm working towards goals, even though I haven't formally stated them. It's not in list form, like the one I made right after high school, but life directional anyways.
And I kinda feel like I'm in limbo right now. Just waiting out the storm to regain strength and be off again. I shouldn't say storm per se, but just waiting, regenerating, observing.
Why is this all coming up you say? I dunno. I was just thinking about the Novemberance Eve party and last year I missed it. Because I was too sad to go. Then I'm talking about planning a trip to Morrocco, with people. Yes people. I always said I wanted to go on a big trip by myself, but that need isn't there for me anymore. I no longer want to do that. I think the big trip to Italy by myself was a way to figure out who I was, while being 100% in control of something, anything! My life was going in directions that I wasn't sure of at that time. I needed something to bring control. But through this so called war that I've gone through, there's no need for that, I did it. I have control of where I'm going and I know who I am and what I'm capable of and know when to ask for assistance! I also think I'm just happier and easier to get along with in general.
I really can't believe the difference a year makes....

contented sigh....
Another while without blogging. Where do I start?
Last weekend was Barbara and Brant's wedding. It was lots of fun, lots of dancing and drinking and visiting with old friends. It was also the only wedding I've seen that ran exactly on schedule, although I should really expect that from a wedding that is run by Barbara. Everyone looked great in the their dresses and the guys looked awesome in their suits. There was drama, fun and disappearing groomsman, the perfect recipe for any wedding.

I caught the flu sometime on thanksgiving weekend. That was not much fun. I didn't get back to work until Thursday last week. No fun. This past weekend I was just so happy to be spending a weekend at home in Saskatoon. I didn't really do much of anything, and it was fantastic. Friday we helped Marshall celebrate his bday at The Samurai. I had some delicious scallops. Saturday I cleaned like a mad woman. My place was such a mess. Now it's clean and I can find everything again. I even cleaned out the china cabinet, it looks much classier now.
Darrell finally bought a car, a used BMW 540i. It's a really nice car, it has many buttons that aren't very intuitive. To access the onboard computer you press the BC buttons, so I decided that the computer's name must be Burton Cummings. So there'll be lots of fun figuring out what everything does. Also, I'm predicting Darrell's first speeding ticket in less than a week. It has a V8.

Yesterday Darrell and I went for breakfast at Moxie's. We tried going to Grainfield's but couldn't get in. I had some smoked salmon eggs benedicts, which were very tasty. In the afternoon, I went for a run and took my bike out for a couple hours. May as well get all the outside stuff in while I can. It was so nice out yesterday and no wind, it was very pleasant. I made some Chicken Pot Pie yesterday too. It turned out really good. I expected to have some left overs for lunches this week, but didn't get too much out of it, Darrell ate most of it last night. But I will definitely make that recipe again.
Not too much going on for this week. Again, this is a good thing, hooray for not being insanely busy anymore.

Lobsters, bdays and horses
Well it was another crazy week for me. This week was more running around, this time to prepare for birthdays and I was supposed to get Max HD installed.
So I was supposed to get Max HD installed on Tuesday, I've tried how many times to have it installed to no avail, and they did not disappoint me in that respect. They said they'd be there from 7-9. At 8:45 I got a phone call from SaskTel asking for Danielle. I said there was no one here by that name, then they asked if I ordered HD, and I said yes, they said they had to reschedule, they couldn't make it. I was confused about why there were looking for Danielle, but left it alone for a while. I rescheduled for 6pm on Friday. The next day it hit me, they heard a girl's voice, they called me Danielle, when in fact they were looking at Dan's account. This is a mess in itself, when I tried to get Dan's name off the account, there were so many hoops to jump through and I had to get him to actually phone in and do it, and yadda, yadda, yadda, they finally shut down the joint account and opened my own in my name. But there's always been some weird things with the new account, like my cell phone getting cut off etc. The bill clearly states my name only, but for some reason it's like it's still joined, as the above scenario will indicate. I've phoned many a time to no avail to make sure that it's only in my name, and they assure me of that, but yet, weird joint things keep happening.
So that frustration aside, the next night Shannon and I went shopping for bday gifts for my sister and Darrell. I already knew what I was getting them, it was just a matter of finding em. So I found Darrell this gorgeous leather briefcase in Danier Leather and I got a free pair of amazing leather and cashmere gloves out of the deal for free! You had to spend how much and you got $50 off, and I was exactly $50 below that amount so basically my gloves were free. I also couldn't find anything else in there for Darrell, I decided to get myself something. Shannon found some really nice boots that I tried to talk her out of, she didn't listen and bought them anyways. They are really nice boots though. But at least we try to talk eachother out of stuff when we can't afford it.
Thursday it was Darrell bday. I made some cupcakes and hid them all over his office. In the drawers, behind computers etc. Sprinkles got everywhere, it was fun. Then that night before Darrell came to pick me up for supper, I was getting the cake ready and stuff for after, and at 6pm, the SaskTel HD guy shows up! He wasn't supposed to be there till Friday! I had no idea he was coming. So I let him in, I didn't know when I'd get him back. So I'm trying to plan and set up surprises, in a little bit of a rush, and the HD guy is there. So inconvenient! So Darrell showed up and the HD guy was still there, so I told him to go for a walk for 10 mins, gee, I'm so sneaky (eyeroll). So HD got installed and Darrell and I went to Red Lobster and both had the "Ultimate Feast". There was lobster, crab, and two types of shrimp and a vegetable. There was a pile of seafood shells on our table when we were done, we were so full, it was so much fun.
I got to see the new HD the next day. It looks awesome. I always thought I had a crappy tv, but I didn't really complain since it was free. But no, I just had a crappy signal. The HD and the normal channels look brighter and sharper than before. I love it! I can't believe I didn't have this sooner.
Also friday I worked some overtime, got my hair dyed for Barbara's wedding and went out for drinks with Darrell and his sis. Phew, busy day. I might have set off the alarm at work too, I was the last one out on Friday, I hope I set the alarm right, there was a novel by the alarm that was so outdated, I dunno if I did it right, the cops might be looking for me now.
Saturday I headed to Regina. Darrell's family is getting their farm equipment ready for an auction. I spent the day out at their old farm watching the guys pull stuff out of the bushes and sloughs with a front end loader and tractors. Everyone thought I was bored, but I really wasn't. Between remembering all my first aid, some of the stuff looked dangerous, and looking at all the interesting equipment, there wasn't much time to be bored. There's machinery on that property that was pulled by horses! How old is that!
This week I hope to be slowing down but I don't think that will happen. My condo meeting was rescheduled for tuesday, not enough people showed up last week, and then Barbara is getting married on Saturday! I think I have everything I need prepared for that. I tried it all on today, I have everything I need, now it's just hair nails and makeup.

Party all the time
Last week was just crazy. Barbara's bachelorette party was this past weekend. I spent most of last week running around finding supplies and putting together games and planning. It took alot of time, but the payoff was lots of fun. We played some games at Barbara's, including the 'toilet paper wedding dress' and 'pin the macho on the man'. Toni made a ton of Jello shooters that were consummed at the house, and Deborah decorated the house in a nice purple theme. We also decorated Barbara in a custom tshirt and a purple pimp hat with a veil that had condoms and lifesavers stuck to it. Later on we went to Beily's and played some scavenger hunt games. The one game included finding guys in the bar that looked like what you had on a deck of cards. We played this when we first got to the bar and everyone in the bar knew us after that. You had to try to take a picture with these guys too, so they really knew us. I ran into George and his wife at the bar, and I made George pose for my "Preppy Guy" that I had on the card. Then some guys with suits approached me and asked if they could help with the game, they were my "Just came from work guys". Their friends also bought my drinks all night when they saw me at the bar, score! There was another game just for Barbara, it included pinching boys bums and general goofy fun. Lots of dancing was done, and I drank quite a bit. It was lots of fun, and everyone seemed to have a good time.
Friday night I went over to Matt and Courtney's house for a chicken roast. I hadn't been to their new house, it was quite an awesome house with a pool. Almost made me want a house, but then I remembered all the work that goes into a house and I'm quite fine with paying condo fees to have all that extra work done. Also I'd never seen brown and marbled granite, it was so sharp as a kitchen countertop. We played Scene It Squabble later and again the girls won. It makes me question whether the game goes easier on the girls, or just being the girls we are, we have a plethora of knowledge from both sexes. It's interesting to ponder. I think it's just that the girls are better at paying attention than the boys, alot of the time they didn't even know if it was their turn or not.
Sunday I was pooped. I slept in, and sluggishly left Barbara's house at noon. I cleaned my kitchen, went in the hot tub and then Darrell came over and we sat on the couch and watched movies and gorged ourselves on BK. I kinda had a headache all day sunday so it was the perfect day.
This week shouldn't be as busy. Darrell's bday is on thursday, and there's a condo meeting tonight. I sure hope the condo meeting doesn't take long. I know exactly what will happen though. They're in the middle of renovating the main lobby, and the colour scheme they chose is a little dark. It's a very contemporary style but it's pretty dark. But everyone in the building is complaining about it and they aren't even close to being done. At first it was a little scary, dark brown wallpaper and they stained all the wood mahogany. But now that the new tile has gone in, it's really bright and white marbled patterned and they added some more lights, it looks nice. But I'm pretty sure this whole meeting will be why they are worried about the lobby and since most of the people who go to the meeting are really old, I'm sure they are going to hate it all and I'm going to have to hear about it.

Oh no! Not killer corn!
This weekend was jam packed and lots of fun. Friday I actually wasn't feeling well, just tired and run down. I slept all day. Darrell brought over Marie Antoinette, (again, the movie not the person), and we watched. It wasn't the greatest movie, it didn't really go anywhere, but it kinda kept your attention. I don't really know what to think of it.
Saturday I felt a little better, and I had to do some shopping. Darrell and I went for a walk around the university campus, we saw lots of crazy people talking or singing to themselves on this venture. That was kinda odd. Then we decided to go adventuring and ended up at the Strawberry Ranch and subjected ourselves to their giant corn maze. This year the maze had a dinosaur theme and the middle of the maze was shaped like a brontosaurus. We paid $7 each to go through the giant maze. They told us that if we found the 2 hole punches in the maze and punched our map, we'd get a prize. So off we went through the maze. We were still short enough that we couldn't see over the corn. If someone really tall went, I'm sure they'd be able to see over. The maze was actually quite difficult and would of been impossible without a map. It took us an hour and a half to get the end, but we had only found one hole punch, so we went back to find the second one. That took a little while. It was a two and a half hour excursion. I kept on thinking the prize would be really good, like some strawberries. Since it's at the strawberry ranch. But actually, when we went to collect our prize, they handed us a bucket of plastic dinosaurs that we could chose one from. Not the greatest prize but I guess it fit. The maze was super fun.
Sunday I headed to Regina for Barbara's wedding shower. Roberta and her mom were nice enough to host it in their backyard. It was very nice and Barbara wasn't embarrassed too bad with games. The weather was beautiful to sit outside and watch Barbara open her gifts and the food was sooo good and plentiful. The frozen raspberry cheesecake was to die for. And that brings us to this week.
This week is going to be crazy, getting organized for Barbara's bachelorette party on Saturday. I've got it so that I can do 2 tasks a night this week for. Plus there's a major deadline for work at the end of the week. I imagine some overtime will be put in, but I think I'm ahead of schedule for now.

hooray for prime rib
Long weekend was fun. Just relaxed at the lake with family and Darrell. Drank some drinks, hung out on the boat, went to a bbq etc. Darrell and I tried canoeing, we will never speak of that again...... ;)

Last week was just busy. I made sure to get outside lots since it was nice out. I bought Guitar Hero 80's, which is quite fun. I can now play 'I Ran' by Flock of Seagulls. Too much fun. Friday we went to Barbara's and helped her wrap her wedding favours, they turned out so nice and didn't take as long as we thought they would. We also sampled many a bottle of wine that night, fun was had.
Saturday I renewed my membership for the Y. Yay! The gym again. I miss going to the gym. By the end of spring I can't stand being inside in the gym but by the time fall comes I actually don't mind again, it's funny how that works out. They also finally got self scan cards at the Y, no more handing your card to someone and waiting in line to get it back. Darrell and I made copious amounts of sushi, well I should say Darrell made a copious amount of sushi, I just helped eat it. I passed some wraps along, that counts right? ;) And we had another wine drinking night with movies, it was nice.
Sunday I watched one of the saddest maddening Rider games ever! I don't get 'Reviews' in refereeing. I think they should just be called without the review and it should stick, and hopefully all work out even in the end. But I know that wouldn't be fair either, then there'd be no proof if you had a ref that was really biased. The whole game was just infuriating. And by the whole game I mean 2nd to 4th quarters. Three quarters seems to be enough for me, I really can do without watching the 1st.
Today I'm going to the ballet with Darrell. No I'm not dragging him, it was actually his idea and he searched out tickets. Giselle is being performed by the Canada National Ballet Company. Exciting. I think we're eating at John's before hand. John's being a restaurant, not a person as my Mom thought.

Lake Day!
Yay! Long weekend! Horray! Lake!
August has been so cool and finally today the forecast for the weekend looks so nice! I'm so excited to go to the lake and suntan and sit on splash island and go tubing and cruise around in the boat......go canoeing etc. Hopefully it will just be nice and not windy. I'm bringing Darrell with me and we're going to stop in to see his family on the way back. Might have a tough time prying me from the lake if it's really nice though....
We had our last ball game of the season on Wed. Our team didn't show! So Shannon, Ryan and I, helped out another team that was short of players. But man was it fun. I made some all star catches at home. I never play backcatcher, but since I knew Shannon wasn't too keen on playing in the first place, and the original girl on the team had her pick out in field, I volunteered myself. But there were so many plays at home that it was lots of fun. My hitting wasn't the greatest, but I did manage a couple base hits. Next year I think I'll just hit the batting cages for the first part of the season. I'm terrible at hitting slowpitch balls. I can hit them, but not with enough force that they go anywhere, and when I do wind up to get some force, I miss. I think I'm dropping my shoulder and hip for that last one, we'll have to figure it out.
Thery're redoing the lobby in my building. It's about time, it was looking pretty sad. But they're usually pretty good at keeping everything updated. I'm really curious to see what the final result will be.

marvellous madness
This weekend turned out to be lots of fun. Got dressed up for the social committee steak night, I was supposed to sell 50/50 tickets, and I did a little, but they forgot about my chicken, I don't like steak, and had to wait for it, and the guys couldn't wait so they sold the rest. It was at the Longbranch, so that's why the cowboy gear. It was fun for the most part. It's too bad people didn't stick around and dance a bit, that would've been. After the Longbranch, had some martinis and dessert at Earl's with Enobong and her friend Laurissa and Darrell of course.
Then Saturday I did some cleaning, Darrell and I went to the mall and I found some pants. Yay! Long pants. Bought some cool purple pumps too, they go with the pants. I also rearranged my living room. The Tv is in the corner by the window now and the love seat is where the tv used to be. It looks more home-y now. Well I think so anyways. It's also a more condusive set up to a coffee table once I get around to getting one of those. Also cruised 8th street to see if we could see some cool cars for the car show but there looked to be a couple accidents on 8th, so there wasn't too much out.
Sunday was the big cruise weekend car show downtown. They close off about 6 blocks and it's all filled with classic cars. That was pretty neat. We walked around and enjoyed the show.
That's about all for happenings.
In other news my parents are talking about buying a cottage out near Windsor Ontario. Mom asked if I would move there, and Kristen's facebook already says 'might be moving to Ontario'. Ha, ha, I don't think I would. Although I could buy a mansion there right now if I sold my condo, but then I'd need some sort of job to keep up the mansion. Texas looks good for CS jobs right now. Austin would be fun, or Portland Oregon. If I see something fun in any of these places I'll apply but for right now, I'm fine where I am.
Texas looks good for CS jobs right now. the scoop
So I wrote Barbara and Toni an email this morning on all the happenings in my life this summer. And I decided that I really couldn't put it all in any better words than in that email, so I chose to post it here. Keep in mind it just hits highlights, it's what I feel and meant to be short. Nothing is examined in depth, it is what it is, from my point of view about me. But it gives a good overview anyways.
So yes, we all know, beginning of this summer, I went crazy and had a breakdown, primarily about the Dan/Darrell thing. And that's when I broke up with Darrell. I felt guilty for thinking about Dan when I was with Darrell.
So Dan and I started seeing eachother a little and talking again. We both acknowledged that we had both changed and we enjoyed spending time together, so we dated for a little while, even took a camping trip to Narrow Hills. And yes, he has given up the addictive video games and is
starting to get a life plan. But when it came down to it, I just can't trust him to not let it all fall apart like he did before. Then I'd observe things, like him drinking with his buddies till 4am on a tuesday, him puking and passing out, when he has a meeting with his
supervisers at 9am. Or even just disrespect towards me in conversations that he has with our mutual friends. It started to make me feel like I felt when it was at the end of that relationship. And I started getting panic attacks again. And I knew that it was not
right. That he was not mature enough, and he's just not the right guy for me. It *finally* just all clicked. It really hadn't before. So we
broke up, and I said we could keep in contact as friends once in a while, but no, he's just mad, he doesn't even want to do that. So that was the end of that.
Now for Darrell. Our interests are so similar that we just run into eachother everywhere. And even our day to day lives, and habits, we're both so similar, and prefer doing the similar activities at the same times etc. And I really like Darrell, he actually knows how to handle me, and he's responsible, and actually wants to look out for me and take care of me and does it naturally, like walking on the side that I carry my purse on so no one steals it etc. And the only good reason we broke up was because I felt guilty about the Dan stuff I was going through, and I didn't want to drag Darrell along and for him to get hurt. So long story short, we got back together.
And you know what? I feel very happy about all of this. Happier than I've been in the last couple months. And I'm sure about everything now. I don't have anymore 'what ifs' on the Dan side, it would of ended eventually anyways, I know that now. And I don't have any questions on the Darrell thing, I enjoy him and now I can actually let him in and be happy
without comparisons to my past. I've been the happiest in the last week. I gave Darrell a 'Peace Lily' at the beginning of the week (he loves flowers and plants) and I've never felt so good about doing something like that for someone before, because I know it'll be returned
and then some.
So in conclusion, crazy Candice is not crazy anymore :) I'm looking forward to returning to my responsible, sensible, centered calm self again. I think I'm already there.
So, Darrell's coming to the steak night tonight.
And yes, he will be my date for the wedding.
phew, that's a long one, but now you're all caught up!
Cheers,
Candice

Clarity
It's really hard to believe it's august. Almost the end of August to be exact. I can't believe all the things that have gone on this year. Is this what life out of school is like? A constant rollercoaster? On the other hand, I've learned so much this year. Without the rollercoaster I wouldn't know what I know now.
I feel pretty calm and centered these days. I'm pretty happy where I'm going. I turn around and make some mistakes now and then, but every time I learn a little more.
I had a nice weekend at the lake on the weekend. Didn't really do too much there, it was raining. That was dreaded. But I got caught up on 'Flip that House' and 'Property Ladder' on TLC. I also saw 'Night at the Museum' which I enjoyed. The family cat seems to be getting a little more personable but still hides under the bed for most of the day. I also found out that he does not like shrimp, well maybe he didn't like the garlic, more tests need to be done. Went to Ft. Qu'appelle with the fam today. Had some really good fish and chips. Then I drove home and sang all the way. That definitely keeps a person awake. I also 'acquired' some tumblers from home which are quite nice. All in all it was a relaxing weekend with time to think and feel at ease.

Big Girls Don't Cry
Song: Big Girls Don't Cry
Artist: Fergie
Album: The Dutchess
The smell of your skin lingers on me now
You're probably on your flight back to your hometown
I need some shelter of my own protection baby
Be with myself in center, clarity
Peace, Serenity
I hope you know,
That this has nothing to do with you
It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightening out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their
blanket
But I've gotta move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
And big girls don't cry
The path that I'm walking, I must go alone
I must take the baby steps till I'm full grown, full
grown
Fairy tales don't always have a happy ending do they
And I for see the dark ahead if I stay
I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightening out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their
blanket
But I've gotta move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
And big girls don't cry
Like a little school mate in the school yard
We'll play jacks and Uno cards
I'll be your best friend and you'll be my
valentine
Yes you can hold my hand if you want to
'cause I wanna hold yours too
We'll be playmates and lovers and share our secret
worlds
But it's time for me to go home
It's getting late, dark outside
I need to be with myself in center, clarity
Peace, Serenity
I hope you know,
That this has nothing to do with you

The Fair
Had a really good weekend. Friday I went to Shannon's we had dacquiri's and watched Babel and I watched her get sucked into the online game Tribal Wars. (Which I'm glad I never jumped on the band wagon to do) I slept there that night on account of the dacquiri's, and I got up Saturday and it was fair time. I love the fair. I like the rides, and the food and the shows and the animals. If I had a choice I'd go where the fair goes. In the morning I was waiting for everyone to get organised, which was taking a little longer than I liked. So I asked Darrell if he was waiting around for the same thing, and he was so we decided to go. I knew Shannon would be there around 12 sometime but wasn't quite sure. Anyways, I met Darrell in the parking lot and grabbed my cell to meet up with everyone else.
We got there right at 12, right when the midway and the rides were opening. The Zipper was doing its first rounds, the line was non existent and the rides they were giving were really long. So I basically dragged Darrell over there. As we're waiting to get on, I find out, he's never been on any ride ever, in his life. I knew he missed some childhood things that I take for granted, but I didn't know to the extent. So the poor guy was stuck going on the zipper as his first ride ever. I kinda felt bad for that one. The zipper isn't exactly a "starter" ride. It's definitely one of the oldest and scariest rides there. But we made it through, went to see the Strong Man competition, but I was too focused on planning what ride to go on next. Next I subjected Darrell to the Orbiter, which I find as a quite mild ride, but I guess for people who get dizzy it's not. We met up with everyone else after this ride where I continued my adventures down the midway. The new ride called the Twin Flip is lots of fun, it's made it into to my favorites. It feels kinda like the zipper where it flips you upside down and tries to shake all the money out of your pockets.
Eventually I did get dizzy and it was time to eat and take in some shows. I ate a footlong corndog, an elephant ear and a taco in a bag. All met my high standards for fair food. So delicious. Then we sat through a sexist infomercial for kitchenware, saw the Superdogs show, got my horoscope and fortune told for $5, and witnessed a dude wrestling an alligator, and saw the historical Barbie exibit. (They even had a Jem doll exhibit, and I'm proud to say that I'm owner of one of the Misfits that they didn't have....take that exhibit) I had to leave the fair at 8 to pick my sister up. I so could of stayed longer, until the end of the night. There's always next year, no matter how long I stay at the fair, it never seems like it was long enough.
That night we decided to go to Shannon's to watch the meteor shower. It was really good this year, we saw quite a few shooting stars. And that brings me to this week. I realized I hadn't ridden my bike in a while so I took it out for an hour last night. Man, there are alot of hills in S'toon. This time I ventured off the trails by the river into the residential area by the river on the other side. There are a couple streets that I just turned around and let myself go back down the hill at warp 9. It wasn't worth it to make it up the hill.
Tonight there's ball. Our team isn't having very much fun this year and we always lose. Last week most of our team didn't even show up. I had to round up Brandi to come play, which I'm glad I did, she's an awesome player and we were also short of guys, we didn't have a 3rd baseman. Hopefully tonight will be better.
Then this weekend, I don't know what the plan is yet. If it looks like it's going to be nice and sunny at the lake, I think I'll go there, if not, I think I'll stay around Saskatoon for Folkfest. I was never a big fan of Mosaic in Regina, so I don't know what makes me think Folkfest is any different but I'll give it a go if need be.
