clean laptop cars, come and get 'em!

This weekend was quite eventful. I haven't really been home much in the last month and a half. I'm always going back and forth to Saskatoon on weekends or for work. So this weekend I got to clean and organise, it was awesome! My room is spotless. I'm so impressed with myself, there's no dust, everything smells fresh and clean. It's perfect.

I bought a new laptop for a ridiculously cheap price. I'm quite proud of my penny pinching deal hunting ways. And to my surprise, it's a stylish laptop, here I was searching for the cheapest price for all the technical features I wanted, that I didn't even notice that the outside of the laptop matched the turquoise bunnyhug I was wearing. I didn't know until I was about to walk out of the store with it. How is that for kismit? Now I'm trying to buy all the accessories I need for it and I will give my old desktop to Dan since he needs a new compy.

Dan and I went to the car show on the weekend at the Conexus Evenplex (aka the new soccer facility at the Queensbury Downs). It was lots of fun. I sat in so many cars including a Jaguar. I decided I don't like the boxy little windsheilds jeeps have and am not a big fan of the pontiac G5 Pursuit. I found I did like the Acura TSX, the Toyota Yaris is the cutest car I've ever seen, and Prius' are just totally rad. I also really liked another TSX like car but I forget which one now. All in all I'm glad I went with my Saturn Ion 3 Quad Coupe, I truly liked it the best out of all the cars in that class. You can keep your civics, and pursuits, I'll take my stylish Saturn anyday. Plus I think it had the most horsepower in that class too, at 190 hp it was hard to beat even in the luxury sedans, well except for that Mazda thing that had 283hp, but I mean who really needs 283hp? What am I racing or passing? Really people! ;)

the most wonderful time of the year

It's Friday! My favorite day. It's supposed to be +20 here today, it's already +9 and it's only 9 in the morning. I'm excited, I might take the afternoon off. I'm going to go for a run and read a book outside. That sounds perfect to me. I might even clear off our patio at the house, it hasn't been done for a couple years and I'm always grumpy when I can't sit in a comfy patio chair and read. I'm also in the market for a new bike. I know what kind of bike I want but I can't find one big enough! Damn my long legs. I don't want an expensive bike either, I don't want to ride to the Walmart, lock it up and then find it gone. It's better if I get it from Walmart ride to the walmart and then people won't think of taking it. I might fix up my old bike and take it to the lake. It has alot of issues though. The gear cables are shot thanks to everyone's favorite person(ad nauseum) and the inner tire tube has a hole in it. I'll probably just buy a new tube. It would be cheaper to just fix my old bike but it has a really really heavy frame and when winds and hills come along, it's too hard to ride. I want a leisure bike and I'm pretty sure everyone under the sun will make fun of me, but I don't care, they look comfy and I think they are cool. They are the ones with the big u shaped handlebars. Think the bike Miss Piggy rode in Muppets Take Manhattan.

I'm going for lunch with Colin today to Gilmour's. I hope they have the patio open. I'm trying to plan out what I want. I always go for the Tuna Melt but I'm trying to eat a little healthier these days. I don't think I need all that mayo and cheese. I'll have to get something with Ham or Turkey and load it with pickles and banana peppers. That sounds just as good, with Italian sauce. I think that sounds a little healthier.

I went shopping for swimsuits the other day. I was surprised to see that I'm already in swimsuit shape and it's only April. That will be a first since I was 16. Usually April is the prime working out time so I'm in swimsuit shape by June. I bought one from old navy for the lake. It's nice to have a good looking cheap swimsuit around for the cottage and the lake. Sometimes it can be scumy in the summer and you don't want to worry about ruining your swimsuit. Regina lost it's swimsuit store in the Cornwall center. I will have to see if I can find a good swimsuit in Saskatoon or head over to the Lawson Pool, but that's kinda out of the way.

Oh the summer dreaming. I can see the sun from my office here. I believe I will go for a walk on my coffee break.

I don't want to go to Vancouver

Going to Vancouver for 3 days to go to a wedding of people I don't even know, is not a vacation. Going to Las Vegas, there's a vacation. Hiking the Canada trail in BC, there's a vacation. Going to Europe or Mexico, that's a vacation. Why is this so hard to understand? No I don't want to take 3 days off work to spend 2 days in a car and 3 days in Vancouver attending functions. Where's the relaxing part of this? Where's the fun?

I've been to Vancouver before and while that was fun, I have no real desire to go back. We went to the aquarium and Stanley Park and the Olive Garden. The weather was windy and cool and rainy. Now if you know me, you know I like the sun, and warm and not rainy. I'll go and I'll drop $400 in the mall, come back with new clothes and not have any sort of relaxing of vacationy type things that I will have accomplished on this trip. What's the point?

Many a time I've mentioned real vacations, and either I don't have anyone to go with or can't go with specific people because of controversy. Well my friend, it's time for a vacation, a real vacation. Not one of these, we're going anyways so I guess it counts as a vacation vacation.

In fact lets post the definition of a vacation on here, shall we?

va·ca·tion Pronunciation Key (v-kshn, v-)
n.

1. A period of time devoted to pleasure, rest, or relaxation, especially one with pay granted to an employee.
2.
1. A holiday.
2. A fixed period of holidays, especially one during which a school, court, or business suspends activities.
3. Archaic. The act or an instance of vacating.

No Vancouver does not fit this description. Next!

Case of the Mondays

I was so looking forward to coming back to work in Regina this morning. My own cubicle, my own space, a nice big monitor instead of a little laptop monitor. Sounds like heaven right? Then my windows machine at work decided to have a hard drive failure. So I'm back to the little laptop and people in and out of my office trying to fix it.

No one is here today, everyone must have taken vacation. I wouldn't mind it but on my laptop I can't really do too much to utilize this quiet time. I have a bunch of IE development to do, but it's hard to do when you don't have IE, I'm using Linux.

My weekend was fun. Had lots of fun with Dave while he was in town. I've had an urge to go dancing for the last little while but my ankle is messed up from the hole incident last week. So I don't think that would be a good idea. I'll give it some time to heal before I start running and dancing again. It was warm at the lake, I've got a good tan now. I'll have to even it out though, and figure out what I'm going to do for Heather's wedding. I'll have to buy a new bathing suit with the bandeau style top or something so I don't get those tan lines or buy some tanning sessions to even it out. Either way is good, we'll have to see how the weather cooperates.

deer and antelope

It's 8 in the morning and I've already had quite the day.

I'm kinda homesick. I know, I've only been away for a week, but I'd like to be home with my clothes, and furniture and my cat. Somewhere where not every cupboard door is left open everytime Dan goes through a room. Don't get me wrong, I love living with Dan but it's not my home.

I fell into a hole on the way to work. I park 2 blocks away from work and I was wearing my new sandals, and I stepped into this hole in the sidewalk that engulfed my whole foot. So I went down, shoe came flying off, bracelet came flying off, I was able to hold onto my purse. This was one day I was glad not to be wearing runners, my shoe took the most of the impact and went flying, otherwise that would have been my ankle. So a good start to the day.

Then I get to work and there's a serious lack of free offices today, I had to move and the only place that was available were the conference rooms. They are huge and have great big windows but are very very quiet and segregated from everyone else. Reminds me of my Shell days. It's a little lonely, but I'm getting quite a bit done. Oh well.

I found out yesterday that Toni and I will be bridesmaids at Barbara's wedding. I'm so excited, it'll be fun. I can only imagine the troublesome parties we will plan. It'll be great. I'm trying to get after Dan to choose who he wants to be in his wedding party but he's still undecided. We have a couple friends that really don't get along. I know my friend is mature enough to get along with everyone but I don't know about his. Plus we're trying to find a special place for everyone that we're good friends with and somehow not end up with Dave in a bridesmaids dress. It could be tough but we'll find a spot for all our beloved friends.

Usually dense means good

My Saskatoon week is going pretty good. I got to go for a run by the river, had McDonalds in the park, got a pair of new jeans for $10, everything is coming up Candice!

My second interview went really good for a company here in Saskatoon. I'm going to have a big decision about what company to work for in the near future. It's exciting!

I absolutely love having some more girl friends here in Saskatoon. Yes, I've kinda missed girl world, I get a little in Regina, but I'm more immersed here. Work is crazy here, I've got so much going on. I like it. I have alot of responsibility, it's great. Plus I don't get bugged as much in Saskatoon so I get more work done than I do in Regina.

I've kinda got a social situation with a friend. Not a fight but a situation. I'm not quite sure of my plan of action. I'm not even sure how the situation crept up. I'm going to have to be more astute than I normally am, which isn't very, just ask that door I walked into. The question is, do I want to create the drama, or walk away. I'm steering towards the latter right now. Less confrontation is always the best. I need some more consultation to be sure I'm correct in my conclusions before anything. I need James' opinion, impartial opinions are the best.
